Walmart+ and Sam’s Club Plus Are Now One Membership: What It Includes and Who Should Switch
Disclosure: Purchases made through links on this page may earn us a small commission, at zero cost to you.
We’ve spent 17 years tracking prices and membership perks for a living, and it’s rare to see a retailer make a membership cheaper. That’s exactly what Walmart did this week. On October 20, Walmart+ and Sam’s Club Plus became a single Walmart Plus Sam’s Club membership, and it costs the same as Sam’s Club Plus did by itself.
If you’ve been paying for both, that’s close to $100 back in your budget every year. If you only have one, the math on adding the other just changed. Just remember that a membership is only a deal if you use it, the same rule behind our list of shopping mistakes to avoid. Below, we break down what’s included, who comes out ahead, the fine print worth knowing before you switch, and how to link your accounts.
The Quick Answer
- What’s new: Walmart+ and Sam’s Club Plus are now one membership
Launched October 20, 2026, for the same price Sam’s Club Plus costs on its own. - Biggest winner: Current Sam’s Club Plus members
Walmart+ is included at no extra cost. You just have to turn it on. - Easiest upgrade: Walmart+ members who shop at Sam’s Club
A small yearly add-on gets you Sam’s Club Plus too. - Check first: Anyone who gets Walmart+ through a credit card perk
Switching could cost you that discount or statement credit.
Walmart Plus Sam’s Club Membership Benefits
The combined membership costs $120 a year and bundles the main perks of both programs, according to Walmart’s announcement:
- Sam’s Club access with member pricing on name brands and Member’s Mark
- Free delivery from both stores on scheduled Walmart orders of $35 or more and Sam’s Club orders of $50 or more, where available
- A streaming service: Peacock Premium or Paramount+ Essential (both with ads), and you can switch every 90 days
- A gas discount of 10¢ a gallon at more than 17,000 participating stations
- 2% back in Sam’s Cash on eligible purchases, up to $750 a year
How Much You Save with the Combined Membership
Bought separately, Walmart+ runs $98 a year and Sam’s Club Plus runs $120, for a total of $218. The combined membership is $120, so families who were paying for both save $98 a year.
Here’s the part that caught our eye: $120 is the same price as Sam’s Club Plus on its own. In other words, Walmart+ is now essentially included for free with a Plus membership.
Is the Walmart Plus Sam’s Club Membership Worth It?
It depends on what you have now. Here’s how the switch works out for each type of member.
If You Already Have Sam’s Club Plus
Turn on Walmart+ now. It doesn’t cost anything extra. Just remember that only the primary Plus member on the account can activate it.
If You Have Walmart+ Only
Switching costs $22 more a year. Since the membership pays 2% back in Sam’s Cash, about $1,100 in eligible Sam’s Club purchases over the year covers that difference. If you stock up at Sam’s even a few times a year, it likely pays for itself.
If You Have a Basic Sam’s Club Membership
Upgrading to Sam’s Club Plus costs $60 more a year, and Walmart+ now comes with it. That’s free delivery, a streaming service, and gas savings added for the price of the upgrade.
If You Already Pay for Both
Link your Walmart+ and Sam’s Club accounts. Walmart says most members in this situation are eligible for a prorated refund on Walmart+.
If You Have Neither
$120 a year gets you both. It’s worth it if your family would use at least two of the perks regularly, like delivery plus gas savings, or bulk shopping plus the streaming service.
The Fine Print Before You Switch
- Annual only. There’s no monthly payment option and no free trial for the combined membership.
- Primary member only. Only the primary Sam’s Club Plus member can activate Walmart+. A complimentary household card can’t.
- Sharing has limits. The primary member can share some Walmart+ benefits with one other adult in the household. That person needs their own Walmart account and has to accept an invitation, and the streaming perk stays with the primary member.
- Credit card perks. If you get Walmart+ through a credit card, promotion, or other sponsored program, switching may mean losing that discount or statement credit. Check before you change anything.
- One streaming service at a time. You pick Peacock Premium or Paramount+ Essential, both with ads, and can swap every 90 days.
How to Join, Upgrade, or Link Your Accounts
- Open the Walmart app or the Sam’s Club app, or go to walmart.com/plus/samsclub.
- Sign in as the primary member on your Sam’s Club account.
- Choose to join, upgrade, or link your existing Walmart and Sam’s Club accounts.
- If you were paying for both, look for your prorated Walmart+ refund after linking.
- Pick your streaming service and finish its separate sign-up.
Walmart Plus Sam’s Club vs. Amazon Prime
Amazon Prime is $139 a year, so the Walmart bundle comes in lower. They’re built for different shoppers, though. Prime makes the most sense if you rely on fast shipping with no order minimum and use Prime Video. The Walmart bundle is the better fit for families who buy in bulk, fill up the gas tank often, and don’t mind meeting an order minimum for free delivery. Plenty of households will keep both.
Our Take on the New Walmart and Sam’s Club Bundle
If you already have Sam’s Club Plus, this is free money. Go turn on Walmart+ today. If you have Walmart+ and shop at Sam’s Club even occasionally, the switch is worth it. And if you’ve been on the fence about a warehouse club membership, this is the strongest reason we’ve seen in a while to give Sam’s Club a try.
